Lend.com.au review 2026: business-loan matching and its limits

SMB Loan publishes information and may earn referral fees from Lend. We do not work directly with the lenders reviewed. How referrals work.

Lend matches Australian businesses with a lender panel. Review what a match establishes, consent, formal credit checks and how to compare the resulting offers.

Our view: Lend is a practical starting point when you want help narrowing an Australian business-finance search. Its panel can reduce the number of providers you approach individually. We would use a match to build a shortlist, then compare the actual proposals: a panel result is neither approval nor proof of the cheapest loan in the market.

What a match does and does not establish

Lend's homepage advertises a panel of bank and non-bank lenders. A panel can widen the search, but it is not necessarily the whole market. Ask whether your existing bank or a specialist appropriate to the funding purpose is included.

The result of an initial enquiry is not a binding offer. Eligibility, serviceability, security and pricing still depend on the lender. Compare the proposed product type as well as the amount: a line of credit, invoice facility and term loan can solve different problems.

Use the borrowing-power result as a starting point

Lend's current homepage describes policy matching across more than 80 lenders and a borrowing-power estimate (checked 5 October 2026). That is useful when an owner does not know which providers might consider the business. It is less useful if the estimate becomes a target amount to borrow.

Start with the money needed for the actual purchase or cash gap. A higher possible limit does not establish that additional borrowing has a productive use. For a stock order expected to turn into cash in three months, compare the repayment schedule with that cycle rather than selecting the longest term simply to reduce the instalment.

Lend also describes a digital financial-data connection in its matching process. Keep the business records current before supplying them, and explain unusual deposits, transfers or seasonal receipts. Matching based on incomplete information can direct you towards a product that changes once the lender sees the full position.

Know which service Lend is providing in your transaction

The published platform terms, still marked last updated 7 February 2018, describe introductions to third-party lenders and also allow for Lend Capital to offer its own finance when available. They state no fee for lodging the referral or eligibility form and disclose possible upfront or trailing lender commissions. Confirm the terms presented in your actual journey; those statements do not make the eventual loan fee-free.

The same terms limit comparisons to providers and products included in the software. We therefore assess Lend as a way to organise a search, not evidence that every possible lender has competed for the application. Ask who the proposed creditor is and which party handles the application and account after the introduction.

Keep the credit-check stages separate

Lend describes its initial matching process as not affecting the applicant's credit rating. That should not be read as a promise that a formal lender application involves no credit enquiry. Before proceeding, check which lender will receive the application and what consent you are giving.

Initial matching is most useful before you have chosen a facility or know which lenders fit. Once written proposals arrive, the task changes. Compare the cash received, repayment dates and security rather than submitting more applications simply to see what happens.

How to compare the resulting offers

Two offers for the same requested amount may release different cash after upfront fees. They may also use different repayment periods or require different guarantees. Put those details beside total repayments and the early-payout calculation before ranking price. Lend should explain its remuneration and any borrower fees, including whether payment differs between options. Free access can coexist with lender-paid commission.

SMB Loan's comparison journey may direct readers to Lend. Our commercial disclosures explain that referrals can generate commission. The link should not be read as an independent guarantee about the suitability of a particular match.

Judge the shortlist on what changes your decision

For illustration, two offers each described as $40,000 may differ if one deducts $1,200 at settlement and the other charges that fee separately. The first releases $38,800. That matters if a supplier needs the full $40,000 immediately, even before comparing interest or total payments.

Ask why each proposed lender fits and which alternative was excluded. A lender outside the panel is different from one that declined the business or cannot meet the deadline. Where a direct quote is practical, it can help test the result without requiring indiscriminate applications.

Our preference is to use Lend early to identify plausible options, then stop and examine the written offers. Its value is a shorter, more relevant search. The lending decision still needs a price, repayment schedule and security position the owner understands.

When another route is useful

Valiant offers another broker comparison, while the direct-lender comparison lets you assess named products yourself. Use either route to test a proposal against your borrowing purpose, rather than submitting multiple formal applications without understanding the credit enquiries involved.

SMB Loan’s relationship with Lend

SMB Loan is an informational publisher and refers visitors to Lend.com.au. Lend operates the enquiry and matching service; SMB Loan does not assess applications or approve credit. That relationship is relevant when reading this review and using links to Lend.

A match is an introduction to investigate. Compare the lender’s final costs, security and repayments with another suitable offer, and read Lend’s consent terms before providing information.

Sources and review scope

The sources below support the product discussion and dated history. A historical announcement does not establish current pricing or availability. Where official pages disagree, the difference is identified in the review; the provider's written offer determines approval, costs and contractual obligations.
