Start with the amount
Start with the expense you need to cover. We’ll carry this amount into the Lend application; the lender will assess how much it can offer.
Enter between $5,000 and $1,000,000. This is an initial request, not an offer or approval.

A match is a starting point. Compare the written offer before deciding whether to borrow.
A loan can help a business take on a good order or put an asset to work sooner. The test is what happens after the money arrives. Repayments should leave room for wages, suppliers and the quieter weeks you already know are coming.
Start with the job the money needs to do. Borrowing for a van used over several years is a different decision from covering invoices due next month.
A term loan provides an advance with a repayment schedule. Compare the money you actually receive after fees with the cost of the purchase.
Understand term loans →A line of credit can cover repeated draws. Include the cost of keeping the facility open, even when you are using little of it.
Compare revolving finance →Invoice finance may release cash from eligible receivables. Customer payment terms and the cost of a late invoice belong in the comparison.
Explore invoice finance →The smallest advertised rate is not always the cheapest offer. Interest, upfront deductions and other fees can be presented in different ways. Compare the same amount and term, then write down every repayment and the cost of leaving early.
The weekly repayment matters as much as that total. Put it into your cash-flow forecast before committing. Our rates and borrowing-cost guide explains how to compare different pricing methods.
A bank balance on a good day is a poor borrowing budget. Start with the cash customers are expected to pay, then allow for operating expenses, tax commitments and existing finance on the dates they fall due. Separate money already committed to suppliers from money available for another repayment. A profitable sale can still leave a gap if the customer pays after wages and rent.
Use a normal trading period and a weaker one. For illustration, $50,000 of monthly receipts less $42,000 of operating outgoings and $3,000 of existing debt payments leaves $5,000 before any omitted commitments, owner withdrawals or new finance. That figure is a starting calculation, not a lender's affordability test or a reason to borrow the full amount it could support. Replace each assumption with the business's records and allow for uncertainty.
Then put the proposed loan debits into the calendar. A weekly repayment does not become a monthly commitment simply by multiplying it by four: some calendar months contain five debit dates. A seasonal business should check the quiet stretch, not only the annual average. If the plan fails when one customer pays a fortnight late, change the amount, timing or funding structure before committing.
The Australian Government's application guide starts with income, expenses, debt and cash flow. Our application checklist turns that into the evidence to assemble, including the purpose of the request and a complete list of existing repayments.
Our business lender comparison looks at product scope, eligibility, costs and security. Each review explains the circumstances in which a provider is worth considering and the terms that could change that judgment.
An unsecured label does not settle the question of personal risk. A personal guarantee may leave an owner responsible if the business cannot repay. Check the guarantee and any security documents alongside the loan agreement. Our guarantee guide explains the questions to resolve before signing.
If the business is already struggling to meet its commitments, establish whether new borrowing would improve the position. A tax payment arrangement, a lender discussion or a smaller project may deserve attention first.
A longer term can reduce the scheduled instalment while keeping the debt outstanding for longer. A balloon can reduce payments during the term but leave a final amount that must be funded. A revolving facility can help with repeated gaps, but the right comparison includes access fees, review conditions and the repayments after each draw. None of those structures is automatically the cheapest or safest.
For equipment, compare the asset's useful life and expected contribution with the repayment term. For stock, show how sales become collected cash. For a tax debt or a run of operating losses, first establish whether the shortfall is temporary and what will change. New credit adds a commitment; it does not by itself improve a business's trading margin.
Read the guide that matches the actual decision: buying an asset, funding eligible invoices, replacing existing debt, or dealing with repayment difficulty. You can compare an offer without accepting it, and deciding to stage a purchase or negotiate payment terms can be a useful outcome of the comparison.
The amount selector above leads to a Lend application. Lend searches its lender panel using the details you provide; it does not compare every lender or guarantee an offer. Lend says its initial matching does not affect your credit score (source checked 10 October 2026). A later lender application may involve a credit enquiry, so read the consent terms at that stage.
Using this site is free. Lend describes its comparison service as free (checked 10 October 2026). A finance offer has its own interest, fees and conditions; comparing does not oblige you to accept an offer.
For a stronger starting point, gather recent business bank statements, existing debt details and a repayment budget. Use the application checklist before opening the form.
Late invoices, borrowing costs and access to business banking affect real cash flow. Our SME research library brings together surveys and public-data studies with their reporting periods, methods and limitations attached.
