Who publishes SMB Loan?
SMB Loan is a business-finance information website published by Finofin LTD, a private company based in Israel. It was formerly Small Business Loans Australia at smallbusinessloansaustralia.com. The site moved to smbloan.com.au in 2026; the earlier brand appears in historical research and media coverage.
We publish guides, lender reviews, calculators and research for Australian business owners. We are not a bank, lender, credit broker or loan marketplace. We do not arrange credit, assess an application or negotiate with lenders on your behalf.
Editorial and research enquiries: hello@smbloan.com.au. Our publisher is based in Tel Aviv, Israel. SMB Loan does not hold an Australian ABN.
Who writes the content?
Alon Rajic is SMB Loan’s author and publisher and the founder and managing director of Finofin. His work covers business-finance comparisons, borrowing decisions and SME research. His author page links to his professional background and Australian publications that have quoted his commentary.
Alon’s role is financial publishing. The site does not present him as an Australian credit licensee, tax adviser or a separate independent reviewer. A named byline identifies responsibility for an article; it does not mean the author has borrowed from the provider or personally tested its application process.
How we review a lender
We start with the borrowing decision: what the product funds, which businesses can apply, how repayments work and what could make it a poor fit. The review distinguishes a direct lender from a broker, matching service or discontinued brand.
We examine published costs, repayment frequency, security, personal guarantees, early repayment and the evidence a business needs to provide. A maximum loan amount is not an approval promise. A published starting rate is not the price every borrower receives.
Our verdicts explain the reasons for considering a product and the circumstances in which to look elsewhere. We do not give an unexplained percentage score or claim a provider is universally best. Read the review method for the criteria and limits of the evidence.
How we check product information
Provider product pages, eligibility criteria and published terms are the starting point for product claims. Official regulator and government sources support legal or market context. Source notes identify the page used and the period a statistic describes. Where two provider documents disagree, we explain the conflict or omit an unverified number; we do not choose the more attractive figure.
An article’s editorial update date records a material change to that article. Product-check dates belong to the specific claims checked. Neither date guarantees that a lender will keep its terms unchanged. The eventual offer and contract determine the borrower’s commitments.
These are assessments of documentary evidence, not a programme of test applications or customer-service mystery shopping. Software may assist research, calculations and drafting. A source link is evidence for a claim, not proof of personal experience.
Research and historical material
The research library distinguishes public-data studies from historical surveys. Each finding belongs to its stated sample, reporting period and method. An older survey measures what respondents said then; it does not establish what all Australian businesses do today.
Where a retained chart, sample count or source label does not reconcile, we state the limitation. Archived data is not silently rewritten to match a more convenient conclusion. Downloadable files retain their source attribution and any relevant reuse conditions.
How we make money
SMB Loan may receive a referral fee from Lend when visitors use our referral route. We do not work directly with the lenders featured in our editorial coverage. A review does not establish that its subject is on Lend’s panel or that an application will be sent to that provider.
Buttons labelled “Compare options with Lend” open Lend’s enquiry service. Lend handles matching and the receiving lender decides whether to make an offer. Its panel does not represent every lender in Australia. Read the form’s consent, credit-check and privacy terms before submitting details.
The commercial disclosure and privacy page explains the referral route and the website’s measurement tools. Reading an article does not create a personalised advice service.
